About Marek Sowinski

Marek Sowinski plays high-stakes cash. He learned the game in Krakow in the years when online poker arrived there in force, moved up through mid-stakes no-limit and pot-limit Omaha across roughly a decade, and now plays the biggest games he can find running — online most nights, live when a private game is worth the trip.

He writes the hand analyses on this site, and his method is deliberately narrow: one spot, the whole decision tree, what he actually did, and what the solver says about it afterwards. He is more interested in the second question than the first. His view is that at high stakes almost everybody already knows the baseline, so the money is made in the layer above it — noticing which of a good opponent's frequencies is off, and being willing to take a line that is theoretically second-best because it is better against this particular player tonight.

Sowinski is careful about what he claims. He does not publish graphs, does not name the games he plays in, and does not present himself as a winner over any given stretch. His argument for being read is the quality of the reasoning inside a hand, not a screenshot of a balance. He is blunt about variance and blunter about players who mistake one good year for a solved game.
